The Work - In - Progress - Blog Hop (or an interview with myself)
Hi! We're going to have a different kind of blog post today. I'm going to interview myself about my current work - in - progress! First things first, I have to thank Ilil Arbel for nominating me to do this. You can check out Ilil's website at: http://www.ililarbel.weebly.com/1/post/2012/10/work-in-progress-blog-hop.html.
When Ilil stopped by to tell me about this, she gave me two rules. Rule number one: Answer all ten questions about you work - in - progress. Rule number two: Nominate five other writer friends who you know that have blogs or websites so they can join in the fun!
Now on to the questions:
What is the title to your work - in - progress? The title is a working title right now and it's called Obey.
Where did the idea for your book come from? The idea for this book actually came from two different sources. One of my nieces gave me the initial idea. I just combined that with my own experiences.
What genre does your book fall under? Children's fiction.
What actors would you choose to play the characters in the movie rendition? Oh, this is a tough one! This is something to think about. I've been told that visualizing who might play movie versions helps in writing the story. So far, I've been just visualizing the characters. But right now I don't have the answer to your question.
What is the synopsis of your book in one sentence? Here goes. Without giving anything away it's: Allie moves to unchartered territory.
What other book would you compare this work - in - progress to in your genre? Karen's Big Move by Ann M. Martin. It's part of the Little Sisters series #96.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? This is another tough question. This book has twisted, turned and taken me in so many directions that this is hard to answer! Let's just say it's taken a long time.
Will this book be self - published or represented by an agency? I hope it'll be represented by an agency!
What inspired you to write this book? Well, this question goes back to question two but I'd have to say my niece and my own memories.
What else about your book might pique your readers interest? Well, you'll have to read the book to find out the answer to that!
Now, it's time to announce the five people I've nominated. May I have the envelope, please? Here they are in no particular order:
Susanne Drazic
Rena Jones
Allyn Stotz
Janet Smart
Betty Dravis

Thanks for the nomination, Deb! I'll try to do it this week!
This is a fun, interesting blog, Deb. An author speaking of her Work in Progress and talking about herself is rather like a self-portrait by an artist: One of those fascinating things in life.
I've read your timely book reviews since you first started and am intrigued by you and your opinions. This blog brought me one step closer to knowing you as a person.
Your book sounds interesting and hope it pulls together smoothly for you. You certainly seemed to have no trouble giving a one-line plot description, which is something I have always struggled with.
Thanks for sharing, Deb.
Hugs - Betty Dravis
Hey Deb. I don't know where my comment disappeared to, but I did comment yesterday. I posted on my site about my WIP
